A charter flight is a private scheduled flight in order to meet the needs of specific passengers or organizations. While commercial destinations operate flights on regular time intervals and with tickets, purchased in advance before the flight, charter flights are organized upon request. They can be used for various purposes, such as transportation of sensitive cargo, conveyance of passengers, or as emergency air transport. As a rule, the fee for this service is higher than for using of a traditional passenger or cargo aircraft; although sometimes you can negotiate and get a discount.
Charters are available through some major airlines, as well as through some private companies, specializing in such type of flights. The aircraft are equipped with crew cabins and with any consumables, such as food, that are stated in the charter agreement. Different types of aircraft can be used, depending on the quantity of cargo or the number of passengers.
